Milford FC’s Nedbank Cup history in numbers
PIC: Milford FC are into their first Nedbank Cup semi-final
Milford FC will travel to Solomon Mahlangu Stadium to meet hosts TS Galaxy in their first-ever Nedbank Cup semi-final on Sunday, 5 April (kick-off 15h00).
The second-tier side have already seen off top-flight opposition in the form of Sekhukhune United in this year’s competition.
Here is a round-up of their Nedbank Cup history in numbers.
1 – Milford come into their Nedbank Cup semi-final as the top team in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and very much in the hunt for promotion to the top flight.
1 – Milford’s semi-final against TS Galaxy will be the first-ever meeting between the teams.
2 – Menzi Chili is the leading scorer for Milford in the Nedbank Cup with two goals. Their other scorers have all netted once each – Sifiso Mdluli, Tonny Mbunga, Sibulele Mekuto, Siphosethu Ndlabi, Cheswyn Philander, Bulelani Sigomoshe and Siyabonga Vilane.
3 – Milford have needed penalties to advance in two of their three ties in the 2026 Nedbank Cup. They defeated third-tier SSU M17 in the Last 32 after a 1-1 draw, and Sekhukhune United in the quarter-finals after their tie ended 2-2. Milford also defeated Kaizer Chiefs on penalties in the Last 32 in 2024, meaning they have won all three shoot-outs they have been involved in.
2 – Milford had never gone past the second round (2024 and 2025) in the Nedbank Cup before this season, so this is uncharted territory for them.
3 – Milford’s biggest win in the Nedbank Cup is also their only outright victory – a 3-0 success against third-tier Mkhambathi in the Last 16 this season.
3 – Their semi-final with Galaxy will be the third time they are away from home in four ties in the 2026 Nedbank Cup season. Overall, they have had three home and four away ties in their seven matches in the competition.
5 – Milford’s biggest-ever defeat came in the Nedbank Cup when they lost 6-1 to Stellenbosch FC in the Last 16 in 2024. They have never lost any other game by five goals.
6 – Milford have scored six goals in their three ties so far this season, following a 1-1 draw with SSU M17, a 3-0 win over Mkhambathi and a 2-2 draw with Sekhukhune United.
6 – Milford have scored at least one goal in six of their seven previous Nedbank Cup clashes. The only time they did not find the back of the net was in a 0-0 draw with Kaizer Chiefs in 2024, a tie they won on penalties.
7 – Milford have played seven games in the Nedbank Cup in the past. They have only won one of those outright, against Mkhambathi this season, to go with three draws and three defeats.
8 – If you include their preliminary-round win over Baroka FC (3-0), all eight of Milford’s goals in this year’s Nedbank Cup have come from different players.
9 – Milford have scored nine goals in the Nedbank Cup but conceded 13 in their seven ties.
10 – Milford made their debut in the Nedbank Cup a decade ago in 2016. Back then they were a third-tier side and narrowly lost 2-1 to Lamontville Golden Arrows in the Last 32.
330 – Left-back Sifiso Mdluli is the only player in the Milford squad who has played all 330 minutes of their campaign to date. He is a former Mkhambathi player, so featured against his former side.
